June 21, 2022 — Playtag, an AI video analytics startup specialized in early childhood education has successfully secured 1 billion KRW in seed investment. The investment was led by Schmidt, a subsidiary of DSC Investment, and Stonebridge Ventures.
“The company has gained significant recognition for pioneering a new frontier in infant behavior analysis through the use of computer vision technology.”
Founded in February 2022, Playtag is committed to researching and developing AI-driven solutions that provide personalized education in early childhood settings, including kindergartens and daycare centers.
In recent years, there has been an increasing demand among parents for personalized education tailored to each child. However, educational institutions face significant challenges in meeting this demand, primarily due to limited staff and the heavy workload of teachers.
“The services we are currently developing will not only meet the needs of parents but also reduce the workload of kindergarten teachers, thereby improving the quality of services in education settings. By systematically analyzing children's behavior based on AI technology, we will provide personalized educational directions that suit their talents and temperament,” notes Hyun Soo Park, CEO of Playtag.
With the funds raised, Playtag aims to actively invest in its research and development, focusing on developing automated algorithms, collecting and analyzing video data from early childhood education institutions, and advancing computer vision technology for behavior analysis. Playtag is also planning to enter the U.S. market through its U.S. subsidiary, Playtag America, which was established in March 2022.
